Conditions we treat.

  • We treat all back pain at Sapien Chiropractic. Low back pain is the most common type of back pain, but we’re experienced with mid back pain and upper back pain as well. Whether you’re experiencing a dull-constant ache or severe pain after getting hurt, we can help!

  • Woke up feeling stiff and achy or can’t turn your head to one side? Neck pain can cause headaches, migraines, and even upper back pain & shoulder pain. Often a stiff injured shoulder or thoracic spine can be the cause of neck pain though these areas may not be currently experiencing pain themselves.

  • Sharp, shooting, electrical-like pain that travels down the back of the leg. Leg pain is worse than low back pain. This pain can shoot all the way to the bottom of the foot and be debilitating.

  • Pain that mimics sciatica but does not travel below the knee on the back of the leg. Pain can feel sharp, shooting, and electrical-like and is felt in the buttock and back of the leg and can be severe.

  • Pain, weakness, and numbness & tingling in the hand(s) are all symptoms of carpal tunnel. Involves the thumb, index finger, and middle finger. Pain and numbness are the initial symptoms followed by weakness and loss of muscle in the meaty part of the hand between the thumb and index finger. Grip strength may be weak when holding and opening jars and twisting door knobs can be challenging. Office workers who use a mouse for many hours during the day experience carpal tunnel most frequently. Hand pain while using a mouse is the most common complaint.

  • Bottom of the foot pain. Most severe with first few steps in the morning. Sharp or stabbing pain felt most near the heel. Pain can be felt throughout the arch and ball of the foot. Pain and tightness is also experienced at the achilles tendon and calf muscles.

  • The most common type of headaches involve neck, shoulder, and upper back stiffness and lack of mobility. Muscles throughout these areas attach to the skull causing increased tension and tightness leading to your headaches. Types of headaches we treat cervicogenic, tension, and typical migraines. Stress and dehydration are also common causes of headaches.

  • Most disc bulges and herniations DO NOT require surgery, and many don’t have symptoms at all. Over time your body resorbs the bulged or herniated disc and heals without residual pain or symptoms. Bulged and herniated discs in the neck can cause pain, numbness & tingling, and weakness that travels from the neck into the arm or hand. In the low back, disc bulges and herniations can cause pain, numbness & tingling, and weakness that travels into the leg or foot. True sciatica is usually caused by a bulged or herniated disc at L5/S1, the bottom lumbar disc.

  • Usually caused by improper or dysfunctional movement of the upper and mid back, neck, and/or elbow. Shoulder pain can be sharp, achy, and become chronic in nature if not properly assessed and treated.

  • Severe sharp or stabbing pain can be felt close to the spine on either side or near the sternum or front of the chest. Pain can be debilitating at times. Severe sharp pain with deep breaths is common. In severe cases it may be difficult to breathe and rapid, shallow breathing is the result. Rib pain typically responds very well to chiropractic adjustments.

  • Hip pain is often the result of ankle, knee or low back dysfunction negatively affecting hip range of motion. This makes the hip work harder, move more, and generate greater stability to make up for what’s going on throughout the kinetic chain. We assess all three regions before prescribing treatment. This ensures we’re correcting the root cause rather than masking the symptoms of your hip pain.

  • With all knee pain we assess the joints above and below it. The ankle and hip are major contributors to knee pain. Without proper assessment and treatment your knee pain can become chronic and lead to decreased activity and enjoyment of the things you love doing.

  • Pain while running, lifting weights, exercise, walking, bending, twisting… you name it, if you have pain with movement you need your movement ability screened. Pain is your warning sign that something isn’t right. Proper screening and assessment reduces your risk of injury and gets to the root cause of your pain. Improper and dysfunctional movement patterns are corrected, pain decreases, and normal function returns.
